Pianist and coach Kimberly Carballo is presently Coordinating Opera Coach at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. Her previous engagements include working as the mainstage and young artists' program coach for the Compañía Lírica Nacional de Costa Rica (National Lyric Opera of Costa Rica), instructor and vocal coach at the Conservatorio Musical de Alajuela and at the Universidad de Costa Rica, and vocal coach at the Universidad Nacional in Costa Rica. As a coach and collaborator, she has prepared and presented hundreds of art song and instrumental recitals with students and faculty members. Kimberly has studied and coached with noted musicians including Michel Block, Jean-Louis Haguenauer, Christopher Harding, Leonard Hokanson, and Martin Katz.
Her present responsibilities at Indiana University include coaching and coordinating the musical coachings for each opera, as well as guiding the professional development of the graduate assistant coaches. In addition to her IUOT duties, Carballo maintains a private studio as a freelance coach, collaborator, and piano teacher.
